Drink green tea and start smoking!
Monday, July 7th, 2008It’s called the Asian Paradox: low rates of heart disease yet high rates of smoking. How does this happen?
According to this article, “One theory: The average 1.2 liters of green tea consumed daily by many people in Asia offers antioxidant protection.”
Certainly not a reason to start smoking but it’s interesting nonetheless.
1.2 liters. I can’t say […]
Secret tea ingredient that’s better than Xanax
Sunday, April 13th, 2008I’m reading The Ultimate Tea Diet by Mark Ukra (”Dr. Tea”). It’s a very informative book and in it he discusses the three secret ingredients of tea.
L-theanine is one of the three secret ingredients in tea and only one other plant (an obscure mushroom) contains it.
Because of the way L-theanine affects the brain’s alpha waves, […]
Drink green tea before exercising and burn more fat
Friday, April 4th, 2008You burn 17 percent more fat during exercising if you drink green tea beforehand.
This is according to a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
This gives me yet another excuse to drink more green tea.
Honey with your green tea
Friday, March 28th, 2008I recently wrote about how green tea is a superfood.

Superfoods are packed with nutrients. They can help lower your cholesterol, reduce your cancer risk, strengthen your immune system and more. Without the side effects that drugs have.
Green tea […]

Friday, January 18th, 2008If you have any sense, you’re drinking green tea regularly and enjoying all the benefits. Your metabolism is turbo-charged, you’re losing fat, losing weight and flooding your body with all those wonderful anti-oxidants. Your teeth are in better shape because of reduced plaque. You have more energy. The catechins in it are thought to help […]
Green tea is a natural remedy for acne
Saturday, January 12th, 2008Hormones and bacteria are the root of most acne problems.
Hormones can produce excess oil and clog pores. The growth hormones during adolescence are at a peak, of course, and acne can be a reaction to these hormones.
There’s a bacteria on our skin called Propionibacterium acnes that people with acne have in larger amounts. This bacteria […]
Green tea vs. soda
Tuesday, January 8th, 2008Wild Cherry Pepsi is my one dietary vice. I used to drink 1-3 cans per day.
I didn’t have to feel too guilty about this vice. I’m thin and my teeth are resistant to tooth decay; I’ve never had a cavity. But ever since reading Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan I’ve wanted to eliminate high fructose […]
